Making
the right choice
Many people have to make a decision about a care home
in a crisis, perhaps after a fall or illness, or
the death of a carer. Looking back they often wish
they'd had longer to look around. So if you think
you or a relative might need a care home in the future,
it's a good idea to do some planning now, so that
you'll know what to do should the need arise.
St Vincent’s
as a Registered Charity offers over 100 years’ experience
in caring for people. It
started its life as a home
for ‘crippled boys’ in
1907 and developed into a centre of excellence in orthopaedic
surgery and therapy.
St Vincent’s
Nursing Home is carrying on this long tradition and
reputation by providing high quality care in caring
for the older person. Many people have chosen to make
St Vincent’s
their home, where they live permanently, some come
for a short period of respite care, or convalesce after
a hospital stay.
Our high standards mean residents
benefit from personalised care, provided by skilled,
friendly staff. Whether you need support with everyday
tasks or 24-hour assistance, the care we provide is
designed to build on your strengths and constantly
seeks to improve your quality of life.
Above all, each
resident is treated as an individual, and able to exercise
choice in all aspects of their care. We encourage as
full and active a lifestyle as possible, with rules
and regulations kept to minimum, and visitors are welcome
at all times.
Each resident has their own regularly updated
care plan. Additional services such as speech therapy
or physiotherapy can always be arranged, as can opticians,
podiatry and dentists appointments.
All rooms have television
points and safety features such as smoke detectors
and 24-hour nurse-call systems. Residents are welcome
to bring personal belongings and St Vincent’s
has a pet dog called Toby who visits quite regularly.
